# Website hacked? We will clean it up today. Malware out, the breach sealed and the door locked. Outside office hours too, because every hour an infected site stays online costs you visitors. ## Four steps, usually within a day 1. **Analysis and assessment**: We find out exactly what is infected, how long it has been going on and how far it has spread. 2. **Clean-up**: Malicious code, injections and leftover files removed, including anything left behind in the database. 3. **Patching and hardening**: Closing the entry point itself: outdated plugins, weak passwords, permissions and access. Then hardening the site further. 4. **Report**: You get it in black and white: what we found, what we did and what you can do yourself to prevent it. ## More than just a clean-up A cleaned-up site is the minimum. You also want to know how it could happen and what it takes to never go through it again. - **A cleaned-up site**: Malware removed from files and database, and checked that the site does what it is supposed to do again. - **The cause identified**: We find out where the entry point was, instead of just cleaning up the mess. Otherwise the door is open again tomorrow. - **Concrete prevention advice**: Which plugins need to go, what needs updating and which settings could be changed. Advice about your site, not a standard checklist. - **Outside office hours too**: An infected shop cannot wait until Monday. How much work it is depends on how deep the infection goes and how big the site is. ## Skimmer removed from a jewelry webshop A jewelry webshop turned out to have a Magecart skimmer in its checkout that was reading credit card details. We cleaned it up the same day, replaced the outdated extension it came in through and hardened the shop further. No incidents since. Usually, yes. If the infection is so serious that visitors are at risk, we put a temporary maintenance page in front of it. We discuss that with you first. ### Do you guarantee it will not come back? No, and nobody could honestly promise that. What we do: seal the breach where it got in and shield the site further. Add a maintenance contract and we keep an eye on updates and warning signs afterwards, and recovery from a new infection is included, as long as passwords are strong and our advice on unsafe plugins has been followed. ### Does this work for Magento too? Yes. With Magento it is often skimmers in the checkout or an outdated extension. Same approach: clean up, close the entry point and then a report of what was going on. ### Does my site have to be hosted with you? No. We also work on the hosting you have now, as long as we get enough access.
